Update: on PSY's "Do not fire, please"

Just a little update on the El Monte, California's 14 lifeguard situation.  On October 2, 2012 the city council had a 5 hour meeting discussing the reinstatement of the 14 lifeguards that were fired over a remake of the "Gangnam Style" called "Lifeguard Style" video.  El Monte Mayor Andre Quintero is in favor of  rehiring all the guards back.  But because the Mayors motion was not on the meetings agenda, the council could not vote on rehiring the lifeguards according to 89.3 KPCC Public Radio blog.

When Mayor Quintero was asked on California's 89.3 KPCC Public Radio about the lifeguards video, he stated that he liked the video and he did not find it to be offensive.  The Mayor was also surprised to find that the lifeguard's video had reached an international spotlight, putting El Monte on the maps. As of today, the lifeguard video has almost 2 million views on youtube.

The next meeting will be held on October 16, 2012.  Lets hope the City Council gets their act together and rehires these lifeguards.  Keep following for an update.
