Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin Restaurant

A leisure stroll through Waikiki with my son and husband we ended up at Tonkatsu Ginza Bairin. A restaurant for tonkatsu lovers.  Tonkatsu a breaded deep fried pork cutlet often served with shredded cabbage.

We were quite impressed when we walked in.  The decor was cozy and welcoming, the restaurant was just at the end of their lunch rush when we sat down.  The menu was simple.  My husband was disappointed to find out that curry was not available.  Katsu Curry is served everyday until 4:30pm $15, but not on weekends or holidays.  We were there on a Sunday (figures).  Their Katsu Curry is also available on Tuesday and Wednesday nights for $17.  My husband ordered the hamburger plate. His order came with 2 small hamburger patties (it tastes very close to the ones from japan), salad and japanese soft cooked egg and of course rice and miso soup. It was delicious.  My son and I ordered the popular Ginza Tonkastu Set.  Ours came with Tonkatsu with a heap of shredded cabbage, rice and miso soup. The tonkatsu was absolutely amazing.  It was tender and juicy not dry, not over cooked. Wow! I was impressed.  The menu is quite pricey, but well worth it if your looking for authentic Japanese Tonkatsu in Waikiki.  Take out is available. Im not so sure if Hyori Lee made the striped dress a come back, but after her video release of "Miss Korea" and "Bad Girls" I noticed that striped dresses were a hot seller among the young asian tourist visiting from Korea and Japan.  One Japanese tourist in particular was wearing a really cute striped dress, I had to ask her where she got her cute dress from. "Gap" she said "in Japan."  Crap, that figures.   After searching Japan Gap site, I was able to find that cute dress she wore.  It was sold out.  I also checked Gap USA, and it was sold out in the size and color I needed, for weeks. (Yup, I did keep checking.)  Finally!  Finally I lucked out and I was able to order the Gap dress I saw on a tourist.  Here it is!

Im Back!

Aloha! A lot happened since I blogged last.  My husband got a great job offer, one he couldn't let pass by.  The only catch, we needed to move back to Hawaii, and ASAP. The job wasn't going to wait for him, it was now or never.  So, together we decided moving back to Hawaii would be a great opportunity for us, plus we were home sick.  It wasn't easy to pick up everything again and move 4,644 miles. Again.  We sold everything we owned, rented out our beautiful 2000 sq. ft townhouse to strangers and moved to a cozy 700 sq. ft apartment on the 41 floor (the view is amazing) in the middle of Waikiki.  So, here we are, home sweet home once again.

I want to thank everyone for their support and encouragement to start up my blogging again.  Without you, I would be nothing.
